Award-winning songwriter and Midnight Youth’s former frontman, Jeremy Redmore, has brought his infectious single for kids, Singalong, to life today with a delightful animated music video.

Set in a quiet forest, a shy penguin is inspired by the likes of a sassy pukeko, a plucky weta, a tuneful tūi and music itself to become a rock star of the undergrowth.
“Singalong is all about how, if we find the courage to express our true selves, we will naturally find support and encouragement from those around us, in this case through the animated animals in the video,” says Jeremy.
“Singing and dancing are perfect metaphors for how kids can inspire others to express themselves and find confidence, joy and friendship.”
This is the second collaboration between Redmore and stop-motion animator Adam Rowland from Awkward Animations after the pair combined to win Best Music Video at the Aotearoa Children's Music Awards 2023.
“Hundreds of hours of work went into crafting and animating these completely original characters in a secret garage in the North Shore of Auckland. And the jumper that the mini-Jeremy puppet is wearing was made by the woman who has been the props stylist for Anne Geddes for over 35 years, Dawn McGowan!”
The video also joins the previously released "crowd-made" video, featuring kids, families from around the world and Kiwi kindie artists like Little Lips and Itty Bitty Beats (you may even spot a familiar 00's pop star!), which was released in October in celebration of World Singing Day.

“Personal expression is undeniably contagious,” says Jeremy. ”In this case, whenever you feel the urge to sing or dance, just follow it and watch on as you inspire others to join in!”
Jeremy began his foray into the world of children's content in 2021 with a sell-out first edition of picture book, Sing Like A Unicorn. He then released the accompanying Sing Like A Unicorn song and music video to go alongside it, which became an award-winning project.
Whether as the frontman of Midnight Youth or as a solo artist, the unmistakable voice of Jeremy Redmore has played an important role in the fabric of New Zealand music over the past decade; he hopes that this delightful new song can inspire the next generation of singers to do the same, and more.
