Ever been curious to hear what a certain member of your favourite local band brings to the table? Ever wondered what it would be like if members from different bands joined forces for one blistering set of improvised tunes?
At Fringe, Wellington’s most notorious comedy and burlesque venue, “where anything could happen, and every night is always different”, you might experience just that and more. On a normally quiet Sunday afternoon, no less than eleven bands will be represented at Fringe bar, (the home of improvised comedy), to create random permutations and unexpected combinations across their genres of music.
You might see a drummer from one of Wellington’s most prominent hardcore acts, play together with a shoegaze obsessed guitarist, a funky bassist and a pop singer. Or anything in between! There’s even a violinist just for fun!
All music is strictly improvised, with no pre planning on who will join with who... Bands will be created at random at the venue, with the only rule being musicians can’t play with who they normally do.
Exciting! Terrifying! Ridiculous!
