Anti Matter Releases New Single 'Witch Hunt'

10 March 2024 - 0 Comments

Historically women have been hunted and labelled a witch for many different reasons. Witch Hunt plays on the idea of being a woman with faults and taking responsibility for those, while also questioning, hold on a minute, how much of this is gaslighting? Courtney, who performs under Anti Matter says:“ As a woman now, I definitely think I would have been hunted if we were still witch hunting today, or lobotomised. How much of my faults are someone else telling me I’m not good enough, expecting too much of me, or wanting to hunt me down for being too talented/smart/hot etc.? I think a lot of women live in a constant battle with themselves about allowing themselves to shine, or playing themselves down to appease a patriarchy.”

A part of the human condition is learning to reflect on ourselves and our impact on other people. Pulling ourselves back to earth while not letting people pull us lower than this. Witch Hunt lyrically reflects on these themes over dark synths and trap beats.
