Alexander Grant, Lliam Powell, and Maté Vella make up the recording project Chances Are.
Spread between Tūranganui-a-Kiwa, Tāmaki Makaurau and London, Chances Are create contemplative and poetic post-punk, filled with motorik drum machines, alternative guitar tunings, synthesised strings and collaged field recordings. The band's members have a long lineage in Aotearoa's recent musical history featuring in Trust Punks, Cool Cult and Long Distance Runner.
Today Chances Are share their debut album Asleep At The Wheel Of Love, out digitally on April 11 via Sunreturn.

Asleep At The Wheel Of Love is the sound of three friends, trusting the creative process to make something new. The six track album sees the band explore new sonic territories while not straying too far from their post punk pedigree.
"I think the album certainly represents our nebulous creative relationship," says Grant as he reflects on the record. "In stops and starts we’ve been making music together for close to 15 years now, so we have an understanding of where we’d like ideas to take us, but needless to say we’re still surprised that we always end up somewhere different. Doors are opened and remain so."
Asleep At The Wheel Of Love was mixed and mastered by the legendary Mikey Young (the revered musician and engineer known for his work with Australian groups Total Control and Eddy Current Suppression Ring) and is available digitally on all streaming platforms.
