Hailing from the mighty Manawatu, Bad Schematics channel an infectious combination of alt-rock with a side of pop-punk, culminating in a sonic tour de force both in the studio and on stage.
Having already garnered attention far and wide for their debut EP Keep Your Gods in 2023, Bad Schematics kept the momentum going. Deciding to forego sleep, the band returned to the studio in late 2023 to record their debut album over the space of only a few weeks.
Recorded and co-produced with the band by talented engineer Nigel Mauchline at the infamous The Stomach in Palmerston North, and mastered by Chris Chetland at Kog Studios in Auckland.
The four-piece is a tight-knit unit, featuring Caleb Hickmott (vocals, synths), Caitlin Sorenson (bass), Daniel Braithwaite (drums), and newcomer and newcomer Tane Butler (guitar). Creating musical alchemy both in the studio and on stage, Bad Schematics are indeed a sonic tour de force.
C O L L I D E thematically explores different aspects of mental health and relationships.
Channelling musical inspiration from an array of renowned alt/rock/pop/punk artists including All Time Low, Bring Me The Horizon, My Chemical Romance, Paramore and Dead Favours,
C O L L I D E boasts ten bona fide alt-rock anthems.
The first single from the album, Yours Forever Feat. Ben Dark has been met with widespread acclaim, with the band recently releasing a self-produced music video for the track (watch HERE).Last week the band released the second single from the album, the curiously titled Social Shipwreck - Pt. I of The Internal Etiquette Committee Meeting, along with a new music video directed by Hickmott (watch HERE).
C O L L I D E also includes several guest appearances, including Ben Dark (Mirrored Walls), Levi Lewis (Kokoa Nashi), Libby Offord and Red Rodgers (Finger Tight). Hickmott explains “we wanted to work with lots of different people, hence the ‘features’.Most of the features were written by the artists themselves, which was really special, especially to see someone else’s take on the song”.
C O L L I D E is available for purchase for $5 from Bandcamp.
