Following BAKeR's acclaimed debut EP Eternal Now released in February 2023, he has his second EP Moonface all set to go on Friday 24th May.
The first single from the three-track EP is the title track Moonface, which has already been playlisted on Sydney's Antipodes Radio (and features on their latest new releases listing) and the newly-launched Radio South.
Moonface is a reflection on the current zeitgeist, which sees sectors of society wanting to break away from controlling systems like science, religion, governments, the military and our own individual indoctrinations. If you like, it's an update for these times reflecting Bob Marley's refrain, " Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery."
The Moonface EP was recorded in Kerikeri over Easter weekend with producer Dan Hewson, who BAKeR says is "brilliant at what he does."
Eternal Now was nominated for the Auckland Live Best Independent Debut award at this year's Taite Music Prize 2024, and has received some great reviews.
"At times he resembled Dylan if Dylan ever got into the dream pop genres. Awash in layers of hazy synths and a dream-like sound that definitely will leave you wanting to return to again and again, Baker definitely is on the cusp of something here." - My Nguryen, Pitch Perfect (US)
"What a versatile EP. The production throughout is well done, and the songwriting is consistently good. Two thumbs up." - Heather Savage, Top Buzz (US)
