Introducing Live Music Bar — Aotearoa’s new musical web series presented by UTR, produced by Sports Team and made with support from NZ On Air!
Join your host Navakatoa Tekela-Pule and a studio audience for dynamite performances and revealing chats with a special guest selection of Aotearoa’s top talents. All filmed in our eponymous venue within the beating heart of Tāmaki Makaurau, Live Music Bar is an authentic and innovative nightclub experience bridging the online / irl divide. Shot by James Milne (Chabs & Milky) and Sports Team using vintage camera gear, YOU are invited to Live Music Bar — launched in conjunction with UTR’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
The debut episode stars Earth Tongue, performing Reaper Returns and Nightmare from their new album Great Haunting, plus a candid audience Q&A session, closing with the classic Pentagram On The Moon from their 2019 debut Floating Being.

Earth Tongue are the Aotearoa heavy psych-fuzz duo of Gussie Larkin (Mermaidens) and Ezra Simons (Soft Bait, Troy Kingi). Guest supports for Queens Of The Stone Age at Spark Arena in February, the amp-blowing pair are now based in Berlin, currently touring Europe and the UK with Ty Segall. Written whilst bingeing on horror films during the pandemic lockdown era, Earth Tongue have just launched their doom-soaked second album Great Haunting via Los Angeles-based imprint In The Red Records (Thee Oh Sees, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Dion Lunadon).
Great Haunting is out now via In The Red Records.
"We were excited to work with James Milne and his VHS camera collection following the raucous lockdown hit that was Goin’ Live with Chabs and Milky. That show had a sincere affection for the golden age of Music Television, and a comforting handmade quality that can be hard to find on the internet. We’ve adopted the spirit of that show, as well as the singular focus of showcasing the best musical acts in this country. It’s a nice change of pace after our last show Trash Recital, which didn’t allow musicians to even play their own instruments". - Sports Team
