Music News - Fans convince Eden Festival organisers to revert to 'Super Saturday' with all acts performing on one day

While the initial plans were to run this year’s Eden Festival over two days, fan feedback has convinced organisers to combine the event into a 'Super Saturday' with over 30 acts performing on the same day at The Trusts Arena in Auckland on October 12.
Several thousand fans voted 73% to 27% in favour of combining all the acts on the one day. The move will offer featival goers amazing value with a range of international headline acts, as well as a host of top NZ performers, all performing together on the one line-up.
A second stage will be added to the venue to cater for the full line-up on the one day and ensure all performers can still deliver their original set lists without any reductions in performance times.
Festival director Emal Naim, of FestCo Events, explained: “We had initially planned to expand Eden Festival to two days this year after it debuted to great acclaim and sell-out crowds in 2023. But fans have told us they would prefer the event to be held over just one day. This means we will present over 30 great acts blending the best of Afrobeats, R&B, Reggae and Hip-Hop in one great line-up.”
Following the performance in 2023 by hip-hop and R&B legend Lauren Hill, this year’s festival will see
YG Marley – Lauren’s son and grandson of Bob Marley - take to the stage with the laconic style that has jettisoned him into the mainstream on the back on his viral hit single Praise Jah In The Moonlight.
YG will be joined by other headline acts such as Grammy award-winning progressive R&B artist Miguel who has earned platinum certifications for his solo work Adorn and collaborations Lotus Flower Bomb, as well as irreverent Brooklyn rapper Busta Rhymes who has emerged as one of the most idiosyncratic personalities of rap's golden era with his halting ragga-inspired style and lyrics.
Just like last year, the festival will feature some Afrobeats heavy-hitters including the crowned Queen of Afrobeats herself Tiwa Savage, along with dancehall icon Beenie Man and emerging Jamaican icon to be Shenseea. It will also have reggae favourites Kolohe Kai and Spawnbreezie to get the whole crowd singing along creating unforgettable moments.
These performers will be joined by NZ stars Stan Walker, A.R.T., Jujulipps and Nelz. Other local acts include Nokz, Oni500, Wstrn Guide, Tiara, K Swiss and Poppajax.
Eden Festival will be supported once again by partner Mai FM, NZ's largest urban contemporary radio network promoting Māori language and culture and broadcasting hip hop and rhythm and blues.
