We Will Ride Fast is the musical alter-ego of singer/multi-instrumentalist and multimedia artist Kyle Sattler (Frayden, Seedy Burners).
And he's certainly no slouch. In May, Sattler held an exhibition at Tāmaki Makaurau's Audio Foundation titled Anticipations From A Near Future, featuring two new audiovisual works, Spheres Of Our Effective Action and Waves Colliding. You can see more about the exhibition here.
Even more recently, We Will Ride Fast made quite an impact on the 95bFM Top 10. His single Born In The Heart Of The Universe spent four weeks in the top three, culminating in hitting No. 1 on July 4th.
Born in the Heart of the Universe also
graced the nationwide Student Radio/SRN Top 10 on more than one occasion, culminating in reaching No. 7 the
week ending July 9th.
We Will Ride Fast's new alt/indie rock anthem Surfing The Meme Machine, out today, is inspired by the 1999 book The Meme Machine by
Susan Blackmore.
Sattler says that memes are "a means to discuss information loops, and the formation of information biases that control day-to-day existence in an increasingly digital age.
The memetic makeup of information compels individuals into imitating that information, where the algorithmic pressures, found within the echo chambers we inhabit online, work only to restrict criticality, and promote the already mimicked bias. We then project these pressured memes (information loops) through our egos, never more so than in the comment sections on Facebook – LOL."
