A sonic song of dreams. The revelation, the fear. A song about putting your heart back together when it’s broken. Kind of pretending it never happened, ignoring the hurt. Maybe it was all just a dream. A reflection of the journey from infatuation, to relationship, to break up.
Duct Tape is the new single and music video by Lux Graves. A duo from Auckland New Zealand.
The music was inspired by modern synth pop, made in Ableton, producer Courtney uses distinctive harmony to bring to a nostalgic dream state to the song.
She brought the song to Missi, Lux Grave’s sultry singer, who added her personal lyrical twists to the song.
The music video is surreal and glitchy. It’s how the dream state doesn’t make sense, which mirrors the allegory of the lyrics, of how staying in a toxic relationship doesn’t make sense. It also shows the band members in a romanticised state, the way you look back on a person in your memories.
The video is out on YouTube now, along with the song, available on all streaming services.
