Tauranga-based psychedelic synth-punk artist We Will Ride Fast is the musical output of singer/multi-instrumentalist and multimedia artist Kyle Sattler (Frayden, Seedy Burners).
Following two very well-received singles, Born in the Heart of the Universe and Surfing the Meme Machine, We Will Ride Fast today unleashes Matter Makes Abstraction.
"Matter Makes Abstraction is a song about mis- and dis-information in the post-truth world. It explores the emergent digital consciousness that has exposed suspicion and division within the subjective notions we hold as evidence. Tribal propaganda is advertised algorithmically, binding us as witnesses to the clashing of ideals, and we have become matter deconstructing, like ghosts in layers of our own fuzzy thinking." – Kyle Sattler
2024 has been an exceptionally busy year so far for We Will Ride Fast. Both singles to date have graced a number of charts, including the SRN Top 10, the 95bFM Top Ten, and the Radioscope Alternative
airplay chart.
Born in the Heart of the Universe topped the 95bFM Top Ten for the week of July 6th, and Surfing the Meme Machine reached No. 2 on the RadioScope Alt airplay chart the week ending August 9th.
In May, Sattler held an exhibition at Tāmaki Makaurau's Audio Foundation titled ‘Anticipations From A Near Future', featuring two new audiovisual works, Spheres Of Our Effective Action and Waves Colliding.
