Tomorrow musical legends Six60 release their newest project The Grassroots Album, via Massive Entertainment/Universal Music New Zealand.
Recorded earlier this year during the NZ leg of their sold-out Grassroots Tour, the 18-track album features acoustic versions of their biggest hits such as Don't Forget Your Roots and Someone To Be Around, as well as three fan-requested covers – Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marley’s Waiting In Vain and Che Fu’s legendary anthem Misty Frequencies.
On the album, Matiu says “when we set out on the Grassroots tour, we had the plan of recording a live album. We had no idea how it might turn out, but we wanted the road, the people and the venues to inspire us. The grassroots album ended up being taken from the acoustic part of the show and now the fans will be able to hear some of our catalogue, live, acoustic and from some of New Zealand most unique venues. It’s something we are really proud of”
Alongside being available to stream/download from tomorrow, the band also released six hundred and sixty limited-edition signed and individually numbered CDs of The Grassroots Album of which fans sold out within one day.
