Soak In The Summer Vibes At Hawke’s Bay’s Boxing Day Festival

01 October 2024 - 0 Comments

The annual Cape Estate Boxing Day Festival is here for the 9th occasion. Join us for an unforgettable day filled with incredible tunes, good food, fine beverages and great company amongst family and friends. It's an experience like no other, and we can't wait to share it with you!

Whether you’re a festival regular or a first timer, this event promises something for everyone. So, gather your crew, grab your earlybird tickets, and let’s make this Boxing Day one for the books. The countdown begins!

The musical line-up in 2024 features 18 artists from Hawke’s Bay and around Aotearoa, representing a wide variety of musical genres, backgrounds, and experiences.

Joining the line-up in 2024 will be the dynamic band TOI (formerly known as Tunes Of I), who are known for combining soulful reggae vibes with psychedelic funk and groove-laden rock. Fresh of the release of their latest album ‘Waves’, expect an intoxicating live set full of smooth harmonies, deep basslines, and infectious rhythms that take you on a journey through sound.

Nikau Te Huki is a unique composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Pōneke, and his soulful project goes by the name of Casual Healing. There’s something curious about this young Māori-Italian maestro, he delivers a unique mix of laid-back grooves, blending neo-soul, funk, reggae, roots and RnB elements with smooth vocals and atmospheric melodies.

Te Tokotoru is a hard rock power trio deeply rooted in Māori tikanga. The group features Arahi on lead vocals and guitar. William Devine on bass brings his experience from collaborations with notable artists such as Fane Flaws and the funk soul boogie-dub legends Tropical Downbeat Orchestra. Drummer and dart master Iraia Whakamoe, well known for his role in the swamp-stomping blues trio The Nudge and as a longstanding member of Fly My Pretties, completes the band.

Also joining in the electronic stage will be Beccie B and Aunty El, having played at various festivals around Aotearoa such as Rhythm & Vines, Outfield, Homegrown to name a few, and supporting notable international DJs. They bring their high-energy, lovingly curated DJ sets to round off the festivities.

The Cape Estate Boxing Day Festival is a family-friendly event, where everyone is in for a day of joy and excitement. Children aged 12 and under can join in the fun for free! Our enhanced kids’ zone will captivate their imaginations with a bouncy castle, games, and face painting. Youths aged 13-17 are also more than welcome. All minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

We've also got your transport covered, enjoy free parking on the day of the festival. For added convenience, there are return bus tickets to the venue from multiple locations, including Taradale, Napier, Clive, Hastings, Havelock North, and Haumoana.

With limited capacity, the Cape Estate Boxing Day Festival sells out every year, making it a must-attend boutique festival. Keep up with exciting updates and sneak peeks on our social media channels and join the conversation using #CEBD24. Let's make this celebration one for the books!
