FEI LIN is releases her dreamy new single, Love is a Ladder, today, Friday the 4th of October. Love is a Ladder is now available on all major streaming platforms.
The 25 year old Kiwi-Singaporean singer-songwriter is soon to be one of New Zealand’s most prominent voices in alternative modern jazz. Last year FEI LIN was selected for the Asians In Music NZ’s Sandpit programme, writing and recording Love is a Ladder with producer and jazz pianist, Ben Fernandez.
With a nostalgic jazz sway, Love is a Ladder is a pillow to the ear, and cradle for the heart. FEI LIN’s warm vocals float above delicate piano melodies and undulating rhythm accompaniments, while a drifting saxophone lulls the listener right back to a sepia-toned age.
“To not be hopeless, but rather, a hopeful romantic,” is how FEI LIN herself describes it. Lyrics pull between the comfort of one's own company, and the gentle hope to share it. It is an ode to vulnerability, and the courage to ascend love despite the chance of falling.
