Kahu releases his deeply personal new track, I Think I'm Anxious, as part of a larger project set for release in 2025, aimed at raising awareness around mental health. The song reflects Kahu’s own battles with anxiety and the emotional toll of losing a close friend to suicide, a journey he hopes will resonate with others struggling to make sense of their own minds.
I Think I'm Anxious draws listeners into Kahu’s world of raw emotion and mental health exploration. Written during a tumultuous time in his life, including the loss of his friend Nico and a major shift in his living situation and social circles, Kahu’s work on the track became a way to process the overwhelming feelings of anxiety and grief that many can relate to.
In a world often dominated by social and toxic expectations of positivity, Kahu’s lyrics are a candid reflection on the pressures young adults face, many of whom are still figuring out who they are and where they fit in the world. “I know so many are just like me, ”Kahu says. “Young and old (wtf is a 25-year-old even meant to be doing…?) are still figuring out who they are. Look. Please. I tell you this with full confidence. I love you bro, sis. We are all good in the end. But the end doesn’t need to be now. Let’s keep writing the pages of our stories.”
The Flowoxetine project is more than just an album. It’s a slow-release prescription method with a purpose beyond music. Kahu is using his platform to support mental health awareness, helping to provide resources for others who may be struggling in silence. “I want to be that person who stands up and helps, and I want us to be the people who reached out.”
Accompanied by visuals from The2x Studio and lighting by @danthemusefanmandamn, the project’s first official release, featuring Niamh Crooks, is Prescription 1 of 13.
