Blood, sweat and 0% beers are the foundational cornerstones that allowed Tāmaki Makaurau’s Snivelling Swineheards to carve up their succulent debut EP On Cloud Swine. Clocking in at 15:43 (basically a decade in punk time), these eight prime slabs of sonic silly sausagery taste like unabashed fun, letting everybody in the surrounding 1000 mile radius in on the in-jokes.
Started as a conduit to counteract (and potentailly even channel) the resultant rage from modern day society’s consumerist atrophy, the Swinheards’ first convoluted composition was sobriety anthem Nonnies, which includes such wonderful sentiments as “Nonnies, nonnies, they don't ever run out, there’s always fuckin water” and “Drink em and drive, you’re still bloody legal, you’ll stay the fuck alive” before devolving into a demented mess of distorted ska skanks and false endings that would make booby traps in the Indiana Jones franchise blush.
Other highlights include the homage to Viaduct-frequenting, hyper-masculine town folk in the nu metal jugjugs of Testosterone, the Irish Exit’s of G2G and the self-congratulatory tones of First EP. Send yourself to hoggy heaven and give it a spin.
