Alien Weaponry took the music world by storm with their debut album  in 2017, going on to win the prestigious Maioha Award at the APRA Silver Scrolls and then Best Rock Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards. They were again awarded Best Rock Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards in 2022 following their critically acclaimed sophomore album Tangaroa.

Alien Weaponry: Kua Tupu Te Ara is a deeply personal portrait of the first six years in the life of this band and, the two brothers at the band’s core. From the release of their debut album, , as they take their music to the world, touring through Australasia, Europe and America the feature provides an insight into what effect constant touring, teenage angst and creating music has on the boys and their family. Shot with a privileged all access pass the audience is able to be right there with the band, accessing the intimate moments with family, backstage at shows, and life on the road. This portrait depicts not only a band on the rise but also a down-to-earth kiwi family who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances.
