New Zealand rapper, actor and producer Vic Vega is born and raised in Papakura, New Zealand from a dysfunctional family surrounded by violence as a child. His traumatic childhood became the reason he decided to take his struggles seriously and put it into a rap song.
He started his music career back in 2015 where he used to perform rap songs on stage at school talent shows in front of a whole audience. He continued doing live performances at local bars, venues and an amphitheater back at Toi Ohomai in 2021 where he used to study music.
He is very good at writing his own lyrics and creating beats that are inspired by 90’s West Coast and East Coast rap music.
He grew up listening to music from Herbs, UB40, Zapp & Roger, Dr. Dre, Bette Midler, Michael Jackson, Prince, Ice Cube, Notorious B.I.G, 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar, Wu-Tang Clan and Nas who were his main musical influences.
Vic Vega has now released his new independent rap album A Thin Line Between Life & Death, which was written and produced by Vic Vega by his record label Judgement Day Records. He promised himself that he will release an album in 2024 and he has made it happen.
A Thin Line Between Life & Death is a 'concept album' about Vic Vega starting off as a baby growing up in New Zealand, later on into being a man becoming the voice of the people, capturing the hard-hitting subjects on family violence, gang violence, violence-against-prostitution, abandonment issues, social anxiety, autism communities and the Māori & Pakeha suicide rates everybody facing in Aotearoa.
On January 25th 2025, Vic Vega is going to be performing for the first time down at Cassette Nine in Auckland. Tickets are available here.
