Recorded in the University of Otago’s state-of-the-art recording studio with a band of exceptional Ōtepoti Dunedin-based musicians, Sing explains artist Molly Devine’s love for music. In its lyrics, Devine describes music as a mystical world waiting to be uncovered—a sentiment that mirrors her experience creating the track.
Gifted to Devine in recognition of her contributions to music at Otago University, Sing is being released as a double single alongside Puppets, a song she created during her Master’s of Music in 2016. Produced by Hugh Harlow, the University of Otago’s Professional Practice Fellow in Music Production, and featuring the talents of Calla Knudson on vocals and violin, Maddy Parkins-Craig on drums and bass, Samuel Leaper on keyboards, and Alan Ned Gray on vocals, this project celebrates Devine’s deep love and gratitude for the vibrant music community of Ōtepoti Dunedin.
