It’s time to turn the volume up, Aotearoa! This Little Badge is about to make some serious noise with their new single, The Album of The Year, dropping on February 28th, 2025. This track, part of a 4-track EP, is set to take over your summer – with infectious hooks, high-energy vibes, and a whole lot of swagger. Whether you’re cruising along the coast or hitting the local festival, this anthem is going to be your soundtrack for the season.
Recorded at Rhythm Ace Studio with Sam Johnson, and produced by Sam and the band’s frontman Dave Pope, the EP, The Album of The Year is an unapologetic blast of British post-punk energy, indie rock grit, and pure pop joy. It’s got the spirit of the early 80s, but with a fresh spin that screams This Little Badge. Think of it like a love letter to Aotearoa – bold, honest, and full of attitude. From songs about ‘the biggest fans in the world’ to ‘saving a blue blazer from the scrapheap’ (yes, you read that correctly!), this EP is packed with tracks that’ll make you laugh, think, and move.
‘I wrote these songs at a time when I was doing a lot of self reflection,’ says Dave Pope, lead vocalist and the heart of the band. ‘But they’re not just about me – they’re about taking chances, letting go, and embracing life in all its messiness. I’m stoked to share them with our local fans and open up new doors for This Little Badge across Aotearoa.’
After the success of their earlier singles like Marwar Junction and Think Of A Number, This Little Badge is ready to level up. These tracks have already been getting people talking around Taranaki, and now, the band is bringing their unique sound to an even bigger stage. Their fusion of indie rock and catchy pop hooks is the perfect soundtrack to a summer in Taranaki – and beyond.
The single and EP will be streaming everywhere—Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music — on February 28th, 2025.
