13 August 2010 - 0 Comments

The Hamilton Live Music Trust proudly presents

The York St Band Experiments 2010

In association with ZM

Established in 1999, the Band Experiments has a great reputation for choosing local Waikato bands who have moved on to national success. Previous contenders have been Cornerstone Roots, Katchafire, Stardrunk and Sora Shima, who gained recognition through the competition, starting them on their journey to take New Zealand and the world by storm.

2009 Band Experiments winners Knights of the Dub Table have continued this tradition, going strength-to-strength and gathering many fans along the way. Entering the competition in 2008, they played their first gig during the heats of the competition. They impressed the audience and judges alike, making it through to the finals.

Sir Cypher from Knights of the Dub Table credits the Band Experiments for kick-starting their career. “The response to what we were writing was awesome. That’s really how it started … and then we re-entered in 2009 and won!” (Excerpt – Rockin’ the Tron by Debrin Foxcroft for Nexus Magazine).

They have graced the stages of the Music Mountain Matakana Festival and Tribal Pride Music Festival, playing alongside many heavyweight local and international artists, including Mad Professor, Rhombus and DDub. Their latest release Tronic EP features remixes from music legend Tiki Taane, dubstep maestro Optimus Gryme, Undertow, and previous Band Experiments entrant Aum. The music video for Small, their latest single, is currently on rotate on Juice TV.
