The Big Day Out is disappointed to announce that The Black Keys will be unable to perform on any of the 2011 Big Day Out events in Australia or New Zealand due to exhaustion.
The band have provided the following information as explanation to event patrons and fans:
“The Black Keys are sorry to announce the cancellation of the New Zealand and Australian tour including all appearances at the Big Day Out touring festival as well as a portion of the European tour in March. An arduous year of touring and promotion has drained the band and necessitated time off.
Dan and Patrick wish to thank all of you who have shown such incredible support since the release of ‘Brothers’ and have helped make the album a success.”
On a positive note, Big Day Out promoters are pleased to announce the inclusion of Kora as the Auckland replacement. Kora are one of the most exciting live bands in the country and BDO is thrilled to have them step in on the 5.30 to 6.20pm slot on the Green Stage.
They will now be appearing in Wellington at Bodega on Thursday 20th January.
Tickets available at the show on the night for $25.
Their latest release ‘****’ on Jack White's Third Man Records is a stunning collection of Greenhornes songs.
In the last five years Greenhornes members have become wingmen for Jack White’s Nashville ‘mafia’ in the Raconteurs, Dead Weather, Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson bands.
This will be their first Wellington performance.
The Greenhornes will also appear at Big Day Out in Auckland this Friday 21st January on the Essential Stage at 12.30pm.
