The heart of the creative quarter in New Zealand's creative capital will beat for the people of Christchurch next week.
The event Cuba For Chch will take place in and around Cuba Street in central Wellington next Friday March 25. Area bars and venues have combined forces to present an all-night line-up of entertainment featuring Wellington and Christchurch bands.
Confirmed venues include San Francisco Bathhouse, Mighty Mighty, Matterhorn, Good Luck, The Southern Cross, and Havana, and more will be confirmed later this week.
Local radio station RadioActive.fm is helping organise the event with the venues and will be providing promotional, logistical and media support. Cuba For Chch was an initiative from local venue staff, RadioActive and a few people who cared
An announcement on the bands will be made mid-week once all have been confirmed, but organisers are pleased to announce that high-flying noise merchants Bang Bang Eche from Christchurch will be flown up from their devastated city to perform.
Some of the biggest and brightest Wellington bands are in the line-up, which will be announced on RadioActive.FM's Breakfast Show on Friday morning, March 18 8.50am.
All proceeds from the passports, in addition to cash collections at all venues and on the street during the event, will go to the Red Cross to assist with relief efforts in Christchurch.
The entry is a $10 “passport”, provided by local fashion house Starfish, which will provide entry to all venues (subject to capacity).
