Celebrating a nine-year partnership with Parachute, Mystery Creek Events Centre has thrown its support behind this weekend’s festival.
As Mystery Creek’s 92-hectare campus is transformed into New Zealand’s largest campground for this weekend’s festival, both the event’s organisers and its host are looking to the future.
Mystery Creek Events Centre, owned and operated by not-for-profit organisation the NZ National Fieldays Society announced today that it would be throwing additional support behind Parachute Festival.
Mystery Creek CEO Jon Calder says the Society’s contribution is an indication of their dedication to an ongoing relationship with Parachute.
“Over the past 6 months, we have worked with the Parachute team to engineer costs out of the event, in addition to making a significant contribution to ensure the continued success of the festival.
“The Society is focused on growing all events which is paramount to our continued success by ensuring sustainability and longevity of iconic events such as Parachute. This approach allows us to make these concessions more easily than other venues around New Zealand,” said Mr Calder.
Last week Parachute Festival unveiled a “Pay What You Can Afford” family pass scheme, which aimed to make festival tickets more accessible to families struggling in the wake of an economically tough 2011.
Parachute CEO Mark de Jong says the generosity of Mystery Creek is a welcome show of support in the light of the scheme.
“Running an event like Parachute is a tough venture in these economic times. We’re doing everything we can to make the festival affordable for Kiwis – we’re very lucky to be in a partnership with a venue who are willing to work with us to ensure Parachute continues to be a viable success for us.”
