The winner for the second Coke Launchpad competition is Bolbox Rex!

Launchpad is a joint initiative between Space and Coke designed to help launch a New Zealand band. The winning artist or band will receive a video made for them, a guest live appearance on Space, help with publicity and promotion and a feature article in Rip It Up magazine.

The winner was picked by public vote on the Space website, and was announed on Space on Friday 9 May 2003.

And now, here's some information about the band. Their single 'Severed Tongue' is the first single to be released from the Bolbox Stable, entirely self funded and self produced it follows on from the underground success of the 'Something To Prove' and 'What Ya Gonna Do?' demo tracks released to radio late last year. 'Severed Tongue' is a high energy feel good power pop anthem full of big riffs and catchy hooks.

The band formed early last year and is made up of Mitch on Guitar and Vocals, Matty on Bass and Vocals, Dylan on guitars and Ben on drums.

They play infectious hooks coupled with pounding grooves and a punk - rock attitude. Throwing rock, grunge, punk, metal and anything else that takes their fancy into the musical blender, the wide ranging tastes of the band members provide the backbone of the unique Bolbox Rex sound. Kicking around in bands together since high school, it was inevitable that Bolbox Rex would end up making music together.

Tom from Pacifier said that "they sound like a maxed out, metalled up green day."

Now by way of public vote Bolbox get the chance to show us all what they are made of.
