Bleeders Announce Re-union Show at NZ Tattoo & Art Festival

07 June 2012 - 0 Comments

New Zealand punk legends Bleeders are reforming for a final goodbye show at the New Zealand Tattoo & Art Festival on the 24 November at the TSB Stadium in New Plymouth, the show will be Bleeders first on NZ soil since 2008.

"We are extremely excited to be back playing again this year" says Bleeders frontman Angelo Munro.

"It’s a chance to give the New Zealand Bleeders fans a proper goodbye that they deserve"

Formed in 2002 it didn’t take long for Auckland based Bleeders to take off, in their debut year they released the legendary hardcore punk classic " A Bleeding Heart EP" This followed by constant sold out shows all over the country, in 2004 the band was rewarded for their hard work and ever growing success by signing a record deal to Universal Music.

2006 was a huge year for The Bleeders. Their debut album, Sweet As Sin, reached #2 in the charts, garnered them Best Break Through Artist and Best Rock Album at the 2006 New Zealand Music Awards and went on to sell Gold.

The band toured like maniacs in New Zealand and headed across the Tasman no less than five times at the invitation of everyone from Avenged Sevenfold and AFI... to Aussie band Gyroscope plus supporting American horror punk legends the Misfits in the U.K.

The self-titled follow up to Sweet As Sin rejected any notion of resting on their laurels, produced by Clint Murphy and the band at Auckland’s York Street Studios and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York, Bleeders was a return to the brutal vitality that first brought them to people’s attention.

As Real Groove magazine once said of them, they "lack the sense of exclusivity that confines so many bands to their cliquey pigeon holes... If you buy a Bleeders album or go to a show, you’re in the gang, no further questions."

2009 saw the band broaden their horizons by relocating to Canadian city Toronto, where Bleeders supported the legendary Canadian post hardcore band Alexisonfire on their release shows for Old Crows/Young Cardinals, also supporting the likes of snfu at Canadian music week and Cancer Bats.

Towards the end of 2009 Bleeders disbanded with some members staying on in Canada whilst the rest returned home to New Zealand, members of Bleeders are currently playing in such bands as -Black Lungs (Canada) and Cobra Khan and Leeches (NZ).

Bleeders will have support from Beastwars, Cobra Khan, Kitsch, The Outsiders, Trash City Victims, Fallopian Hydroslide, Burlesque performers Venus Star & Bonita Danger Doll at the festival.
