Suzanne Wilson and Andrew Szusterman, once rivals for the 'youth ear' as manager of 95bFM and programmer for Channel Z respectively, are to form the core of the team launching TV4 as a music channel later this year.
Szusterman finishes with Channel Z next month to take up the TV Programming role, with his Channel Z Programme Director's job due to be advertised from tomorrow. Wilson has been TV4 Sales Manager for the last 18 months and now becomes Station Manager.
"The chance to launch a new free-to-air television station is a rare one, and I relish the opportunity," she says. "I am thrilled we have been able to secure Andrew in the key programming role. We have worked together before, and I know we will make a strong team. Andrew has ideal experience at Channel Z and the new TV4 has a very similar youth oriented target audience.
"He has also worked for MTV in the UK and Ireland, and that experience will be invaluable in his new role," she says.
The return of a free-to-air music channel in New Zealand is eagerly awaited by the local industry, particularly after TVNZ's decision to dump M2 from its slot in the early hours and the failure of MTV here in the late 90s. The new TV4 is due for launch in October.
