David Dallas is back with a new 6-track EP inspired by, sampled and interpolated from the catalogue of Jamiroquai, and it’s available for free download now.
The Buffalo Man EP is the culmination of an idea David Dallas started floating around three years ago. With Jamiroquai both an influential artist for him and long time favourite, it wasn’t a project he took on lightly.
“Throughout your life certain artists will resonate with you more than others,” says David. “Often you can look back and pinpoint the moment when the influence of a particular artist changed your musical taste or your opinion about something.”
For David Dallas, Jamiroquai was that band. Not just because of their great catalogue, but because he credits them as being the act that made an extremely closed-minded kid realize he was capable of enjoying other music beside Hip Hop and R&B.
“We’ve put our hearts into this, I hope you enjoy it and I hope that we’ve done some justice to the work of a great act,” says David.
Jumping from strength to strength, Dallas’ track ‘Get out the Way’ has also just been synced to ESPN’s ‘Hey Rookie: Welcome to the NFL’, one of the highest watched sports shows in America.
Currently touring in the US, Dallas has just been added to the second leg of ‘The Brightside Tour’ with American Hip Hop acts AER & YONAS, after break through performances on the first leg. This is the first time an NZ Hip Hop artist has done a tour of this length throughout the USA. Dates below:
