Music News - Flip Grater Launches Crowd Funding Campaign For New Album
28 September 2012 - 0 Comments
A decision to record her next album in Paris at Studio Pigalle has been an exciting and challenging endeavour for Kiwi singer-songwriter
Flip Grater.
“I moved here knowing no-one and had to find a whole new band to work with, a studio and a producer. It’s been difficult but an amazing experience and I’ve loved it. Now I’ve just got to figure out how to pay everyone!”
It’s been a dream come true for the indie-folk artist to record overseas but issues such as stolen guitars, little French language and missing out on several rounds of New Zealand arts funding have made the album an against-the-odds achievement. Using some Kiwi cheek, a bunch of promises and a lot of faith, Flip has managed to pull together an incredible band of French musicians and a talented French producer to go into the studio with her in Paris and record 12 original tracks.
With rough mixes now finished Flip is launching a crowd funding campaign to raise the money to pay for the studio, musicians, manufacture and promotion of the album.
The campaign launches today
Friday 28th September 2012 through fundraising platform IndieGoGo. Supporters will receive exclusive perks such as signed pre-release copies of the new album, limited edition artbooks including photographs, lyrics, stories and recipes and the more generous contributors are even offered a vegetarian meal cooked by Flip Grater herself and a private concert.
