The Kog Transmissions record group is to spin off several of its genre-based imprint labels in a restructuring move designed to streamline the company, make better use of its resources and give more attention to its artists.
The original multi-genre Kog Label will remain. Low Profile (drum and bass) and Syncline (dub) will all remain under the Kog banner, with a new division specialising in breakbeat to be added to the stable.
However, Kog's three other sub-labels - Dirty (hip-hop), Reliable (house) and Midium (rock) - are to each become companies in their own right.
Mark Kneebone will become the new head of labels for the Kog group. As International Label Mangaer and Promotions Manager for the past 18 months, Mark welcomes his new position, and Kog are more than happy for him to take the helm.
The move has been long planned and its inception was driven by the need to give staff and artists the ability to focus, and consolidate it's current and upcoming projects.
In turn, this move will allow the Kog label to do what it does best, to innovate, and forge the parth of originality in this country. Not just for originality's sake, but representing and redefining international trends and genres, with an inherent Aotearoa flavour.
Kog Transmissions Label Manager Callum August will leave his current position to take over the Dirty Records imprint, while H Walker will run Midium and Joost Langeveld, Reliable.
The Kog Transmissions offices in both London and Melbourne will be unaffected by these changes, and will be forging ahead as planned.
Kog is in no doubt that this move is the best way to service both its artists and its staff. In turn it will ensure that the world-class music the label has produced for the previous six years, gets the attention it needs and deserves in order to do well both here in New Zealand, and on the world stage.
Kog Transmissions next release is the Breaks compilation 'Return Of The Booomshwack', which features tunes from Freq Nasty, Baitercell vs Timmy Schumacher, Minuit, Substax and more... It will be released in New Zealand on 18 July and in Australia on 4 August.
