Waikato Music Expo April 2013

28 November 2012 - 0 Comments

After the successful inaugural event earlier this year, the Waikato Music Expo is set to return on April 27-28th, 2013. Organised by the Hamilton Live Music Trust, the Waikato Music Expo is a one-of-a-kind music event with something for everyone - from children learning their first music instrument right through to professional musicians and industry professionals.

The event is designed to promote and engage the public on all aspects of New Zealand’s music industry. The Waikato Music Expo is the only one of its kind in the country, based on several overseas models for music trade and exhibition shows. It features music/instruments suppliers, gear distributers and producers, professional audio, sound and lighting companies, NZ music industry groups, music groups/organisations, audio software, music education, vinyl traders, workshops and much more. The event also offers a great opportunity for exhibitors and attendees to establish connections and network.

“We wanted to encourage people to discover the amazing wealth of music products, distributors and services we have right here in New Zealand.  We hope to encourage music makers of all ages to pursue their musical goals as well as building knowledge about the NZ music industry.” says co-organiser Lauren K. Bell.

Education is a big focus for the Waikato Music Expo. Many of the key New Zealand music industry groups participated for 2012, including the New Zealand Music Commission, New Zealand on Air, Creative NZ, Independent Music New Zealand, APRA, PPNZ, the Music Managers’ Forum and Play it Strange.  For 2013, the event continues building on the educational format adding new guest speakers such as Mike Chunn formerly of Split Enz and CEO of Play It Strange and new workshops and seminars from APRA, NZ On Air and NZ Music Commission

“The response from attendees for the educational workshops and seminars was fantastic. Many told us they felt more confident in approaching New Zealand music industry organisations for advice” says co-organiser Lauren K. Bell.

“We were thrilled with the positive response from the first event. Exhibitors and attendees alike mentioned the great networking opportunities and connections they had established from the event.  For 2013, we will be developing the education component further as well as having more exciting musical exhibitors. We will also be looking to extend further into the fields of event management, music promotion and film production”.

Exhibition sites and workshop opportunities are currently available for the next Waikato Music Expo. To find out more details about exhibitor site options, visit www.waikatomusicexpo.co.nz or contact Lauren K. Bell at [email protected]
