Nikita the Spooky and a Circus of Men have been described as a jazz-influenced folk orchestra. And with the members that make up this little orchestra, it's not very surprising.
Nikita Tu-Bryant who fronts this project has recently been invited to play at the Thailand Jazz Festival in February 2013 with NZ's renowned Ed Zuccollo Jazz Trio, but just before she heads off to Bangkok she plans to tour the South Island for the first time with her Spooky project.
Spooky and a Circus of Men is made up of high calibre musicians all having gone through the New Zealand School of Music. Together they have created a beautiful outfit of jazzy melodies, touches of world music and poetry, stringed together by the instrumentation of cello, violin, double bass, percussion, guitar, and harmonised vocals.
Usually Spooky and a Circus of Men plays with the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra's double bass player Daniel Yeabsley - but this time around they will be joined by surprise guest bass player. Don't miss them this January 2013 before Nikita Tu-Bryant represents New Zealand at the Thailand Jazz Festival."
