Last year was a huge one for the 'slingers - sell-out shows and a high-profile national tour that took THE GUNSLINGERS’ BALL experience to the provinces. This year is no less ambitious, kicking off with a mini-tour that takes in Wairarapa, Wellington and Auckland.
This version of TGB features Auckland stalwarts Bernie Griffen & The Grifters and The Broadsides, alongside Tami Neilson and fellow travellers from the capital - D Burmester & The Blind and John the Baptist.
LEIGH - Friday 26 April – The Sawmill
AUCKLAND - Saturday 27 April – The Paddington

BERNIE GRIFFEN & THE GRIFTERS
Following their triumphant and moving support of Emmy Lou Harris at Vector Arena in November, The Grifters continue doing what they do best - heartfelt songs of love, loss and redemption. Their most recent album, last year's Everything So Far found the band at the peak of their powers, inspiring reviews that acclaimed its 'honest, poetic and uncompromising' stance.
THE BROADSIDES w/ Tami Neilson
Described variously as 'a four-ring circus of shifting genres' and 'so infectious that the World Health Organisation has been putting venues into quarantine', The Broadsides have been tearing it up with their banjos and fiddles set to punky bluegrass for four years now. Joined by guest vocalist the one woman power-house that is Tami Neilson, just try not to dance. Go on, I dare ya!
D BURMESTER & THE BLIND
D Burmester and the Blind mine a rich seam of the kind of raucous foot stompin' country chaos that is seldom seen outside the Appalachian foothills.
JOHN THE BAPTIST
With a capital city take on what can only be described as the sound of 'two gold miners having a pash', JTB have been bringing their firebrand version of folk to the folk since 2009.
With a vital, punked-up sensibility and the same old relentless dedication to having a good time, this 2013 version of THE GUNSLINGERS’ BALL will be stopping at a town near you REAL SOON.
