In high anticipation of the forthcoming Tool concerts at Auckland’s Vector Arena, The Frontier Touring Company announce Jakob as the opening act for Tool at both New Zealand shows.
The members of Tool personally handpicked Jakob to support Tool at Big Day Out sideshows across Australia in 2011, and once again they will join Tool in New Zealand for two nights of ground breaking & heavy hitting music.
Formed in 1998, Jakob is a New Zealand post-rock band based in Napier. The three-piece consists of guitarist Jeff Boyle; bassist Maurice Beckett; and drummer Jason Johnston.
Jakob’s lush and textured take on the guitar/bass/drums format continues to broaden and enthral with every performance and release. Their music is captivating and mesmerising, the sedate becoming devastating in the blink of a crowd’s collective eye.
After a year long hiatus on the live scene, Jakob have been hard at work in Auckland’s Roundhead Studios and are currently putting the finishing touches on album #4 (due for release in the second half of 2013.).
Don’t miss the multi-sensory experience that is a performance by groundbreaking musicians Tool, with the promise of one of the first tastes of their much-awaited upcoming album with support from NZ’s premiere post-rock act Jakob.
