On Friday the 3rd of May, critically acclaimed APRA Award winning New Zealand singer-songwriter Matt Langley - who hails from Dunedin - will release his highly anticipated sophomore album Virginia Avenue.
"A 15 song release that is multilayered, energetic and, importantly varied. Langley mixes dark alt-country strains (Sad Sound Good, Last Days Remain) with jaunty, harmony and horn-laden rock (Love Inside, Bread and Bones). Baring various bits of his soul, he's rarely sounded better)" - Otago Daily Times, April 27 2013.
Produced by renowned pairing Brett Stanton (The Phoenix Foundation) and Riki Gooch (TrinityRoots, Eru Dangerspiel), the album also features some of New Zealand's finest musicians including Gooch on drums, Tom Callwood (The Phoenix Foundation) on Bass and Thomas Watson (Cassette, Fly My Pretties) on guitars.
Riddled with heartbreak, dark humor and heft, it should come as a welcome listen for fans of Langley’s first album Featherbones.
