Release April 20th , 2013 - vinyl LP + CD Beat Manifesto
Superturtle return full of refreshing arrangements and well constructed songs , combiining melody and a warm analogue aesthetic with post punk and new wave sensibilities.
Featuring Kiwi FM top 10 tracks Lost In The Herd Again and Fear Factor (no 33 in the annual top 100- 2012).
"...... for a dozen short'n'snappy songs with New Wave shapes and urgency (Sit Still Now), a smattering of jerky Bowie dance-pop (Walk Like Ya Wanna) , angst-pop (Happy Pills) and some suggestions of mid-period Split Enz in the angularity and vocal delivery (Cause Ya Said So). There's also a touch of space-pop on You Can Wonder. And the final song You're Gonna Get There Too ends things on an uplifting note." - Graham Reid http://www.elsewhere.co.nz/ April 16th
Beat Manifesto combines pop punk and new wave with a decidedly indie feel. Darren McShane's British post-punk influenced voice harmonises well with the dreamy backing vocals of Jude Morris, while a solid rhythm section helps keeps things moving as the album toe-taps its way from start to finish. Frequently walking a fine line between seriousness and novelty, tracks range in topic from the political musings of single Cause Ya Said So to playful hints of The B52s in Sit Still Now.
Murray Jacques' sci-fi synth tones on tracks like Fear Factory add to the charmingly tongue-in-cheek feel. With the album's early singles already having a strong showing on Kiwi FM, Superturtle's latest offering is sure to satisfy old fans' expectations and ought to pique the interest of new ones. - Clovis McEvoy , NZ Musician - Vol 17 April/May 2013
