Following the success of last year’s release, The Warratahs 25 Year Collection, The Warratahs are back with a new single entitled Silver Day.
Silver Day is a heart-warming yet melancholy ballad with an element of darkness thrown in for good measure. An ambling acoustic guitar rhythm is accentuated by bittersweet string arrangements and the warm moan of a pedal steel, as front man Barry Saunders’ dishevelled voice ponders the lyric:
Get it all wrong some days
Is that my sin?
Make it all right sometime
When the ship comes in
The track was written by Barry Saunders and produced by David Long (Dave Dobbyn, Lucid 3, Fur Patrol, Leila Adu) at Long’s studio, The Swearing Room in Wellington.
