Irresistible American dance poppers, Passion Pit announce their eagerly awaited return to our shores to perform at the Powerstation in Auckland on Thursday 25 July.
Passion Pit is the dynamic musical mission of Michael Angelakos, the electronic wunderkind best known for his complex and multi-layered pop songs.
Acclaimed for their unabashedly danceable live performances, Passion Pit bring their explosive party to New Zealand for only the second time, promising tracks from their newest album GOSSAMER as well as fan favorites from previous album MANNERS and their debut EP, CHUNK OF CHANGE.
Take A Walk, the first single from GOSSAMER had a huge reaction around the world shooting to the #1 position on Hype Machine within hours of being live and was awarded Rolling Stone’s 3rd best song of 2012.
Passion Pit were a highlight for many at the recent Coachella festival when the LA Times heralded them as a band that knows how to get people moving, performing in front of “the largest crowd of any Saturday afternoon”.
Rolling Stone said “Passion Pit ushered in the early evening with a set of muscular dance rock, full of pounding disco drums and hooky synth riffs that galvanized the crowd into movement. Frontman Michael Angelakos proved a commanding presence, effortlessly nailing seemingly impossible high notes on Passion Pit anthems of angst like Sleepyhead and Take a Walk.”
Stereogum summed the show up saying“Earlier this year, we wondered about how Passion Pit could sell out Madison Square Garden but from the hordes of people swarming to the stage in skip-dance fashion, the reason was clear: People like to feel good.”
Is New Zealand ready to feel good with Passion Pit? There is one place to find out.
