Anna Coddington returns in form with her first single since critically acclaimed sophomore album Cat & Bird.
Showcasing a notable development from the guitar-based, live band sound of her two albums, Bird In Hand was produced by 2013 Taite Prize winning artist and producer SJD, who puts the haunting vocal centre stage over angular drums (courtesy of Chris O’Connor), delicate keys (Steph Brown aka Lips) and a heady string arrangement. Also on the way is a remix by Haz of Homebrew.
Bird In Hand is her first solo release in over a year, and follows up the summer release of funk-pop gem Noise Control by Street Neighbourz (aka Anna and her actual neighbour Jason Smith), which was the first of a number of collaborations Anna has planned this year
Anna spent much of the last year traveling, collaborating, and honing the crafts of songwriting and production. She’s written songs with London-based French producer Dimitri Tikovoi (Goldfrapp, Charlie XCX), Auckland-based British producer Dick Johnson, and is now working on the follow up single to Bird In Hand with versatile producer Jeremy Toy (OpenSouls, She’s So Rad). Each collaboration throws a new flavour in the pot, and Anna is absorbing all she can from her peers, embracing new textures and techniques. Bird in Hand offers fans the first taste of what we’re sure is going to be her best collection of work yet.
