About the Awards
The National Country Music Awards have been staged annually since 2006 by the Kiwi Pro-Am Country Music Organisation. It is an event where promoters and international agents come to see and learn about the cream of NZ country artists.
Country music is the world’s most listened to genre and sells more live concert tickets than any music in the world today. In NZ alone there are around 250 clubs who each support between 100 and 200 active members.
Country Music Association International Director Rob Potts will attend the awards and is thrilled with the quality of artists being produced in NZ. He said“This event is one of the most important events in country music in NZ.”
The National Country Music Awards have played a key role in establishing a trans-Tasman artist exchange programme that has seen the winner of the NZ Horizon Award perform at Tamworth - the biggest country music event in the Southern Hemisphere. The winner also has the added distinction of performing on the Global Artist Showcase as part of the CMA Music Festival in Nashville -- the largest country music festival in the world and a major opportunity for instant stardom!!!!
“It’s very encouraging for country music in this part of the world. To see NZ establishing international pathways for their young artists to gain exposure and experience and Kiwi Pro-Am has been a major force in connecting with the CMA to drive this outcome” said Potts.
