Riverside Sessions is a musical writing and recording collaboration project which has been taking place over five days each January at Riverslea Retreat in Otaki since 2012.
We are now coordinating the next event in 2014 which is planned for the 14th to the 19th of January.
This is a unique opportunity to spend 5 days in an inspiring setting amongst nature writing and recording music without being tied to any group, style or role, but with the freedom to collaborate with a variety of talented musicians.... The ideal group includes a variety of song-writers, multi-instrumentalists, bedroom (or studio) engineers, inspirers and creatives. All different backgrounds and styles are welcome, but being obsessed with music and having a ‘good vibe’ is essential, if you know what I mean.
This event costs money. On Average $280 each, but the cost for a person to participate is determined by what musical/recording equipment and assistance they contribute to the event, the more gear you contribute the less it will cost. Seems fair, right?
The full rate begins at $400 and each item a participant contributes deducts a figure from that rate (amount depending on item value and usefulness). For example, a stack amp could deduct $30, a small interface might deduct $10, providing transport (and petrol) might deduct $100 or more, but it is relative to what everyone else contributes, so final cost for each person can only be worked out once all participants are confirmed and we have a list of all gear being contributed.
Aside from the expectation of general lawfulness and common courtesies, there are certain characteristics and behaviors that are conducive to this event, and others that are not. These aren’t rules, but please take note of which boxes you might tick while considering your participation in this event:
