Five Mile Town, one of New Zealand’s up and coming bands, now domiciled in Melbourne, Australia, announce the release of their new single and music video for Curious Creature.
Curious Creature is a compelling melange of introspection, artistic yearning and hope. The song reveals their mature grasp of the songwriter’s art, and at the same time displays the power and fine musicianship present in this talented young four-piece.
The song was engineered and produced by award winning VMNZA 2009 Producer of the Year Andrew Buckton, and both the audio and music video were funded by NZ On Air’s “Making Tracks” initiative.
Curious Creature represents an evolutionary step-up for the band musically – the addition of drummer/percussionist Ryan Wilson in 2012 and the recent move to less traditional folk instrumentation has strengthened the band’s repertoire, adding real depth and power to their unique folk / rock sound.

About Five Mile Town
Formerly Auckland-based, Five Mile Town recently moved to Melbourne - the vibrant “musical capital of Australia” - to further their careers and immerse themselves in the Australian music scene.
Their relocation to Melbourne capped a year of both creative and performance successes at home – with a Top 20 APRA Silver Scrolls nomination under their belts, then winning the 2012 International Songwriting Competition (Teen Category), and along the way picking up a loyal fan base, playing live at some of the biggest festivals in New Zealand, such as SoundsOn and Rhythm & Vines.
Five Mile Town are Louis McDonald (vocals, guitar), Adam Quigley (guitars), Levi Heeringa (vocals, bass), and Ryan Wilson (drums, percussion, vocals).
