For the first time the top three albums in the Top 50 album chart are by New Zealand musicians, for two weeks in a row.
Last week Hayley Westenra's third album, 'Pure', was at No 1 after four weeks in the chart, Bic Runga's 'Beautiful Collision' was at No 2 after 56 weeks and West Auckland band Elemeno P's debut rap-rock album, 'Love and Disrespect', was No 3.
Today's charts reveal local acts claiming the top four spots on the Albums Chart. And on the Singles Chart, Scribe returns to #1 in a week which finds FIVE Kiwi singles in the Top 10.
The other top kiwi singles are Brooke Fraser at number 3 with 'Better', Mareko at number 4 with his single 'Mareko (Here To Stay)', Blindspott is in at number 7 with 'Phlex' and Elemeno P is holding number 10 with 'Verona'.
Salmonella Dub's new LP One Drop East goes gold as it debuts at #1, followed by Hayley Westenra, Bic Runga and Elemeno P (who achieve platinum status this week).
The achivement follows a number of landmarks over the last few weeks, including the first occasion that four NZ albums had made the top five and Bic claiming the record for most weeks at #1 by a local artist (bettering Split Enz).
It's also a record-breaking week on the airwaves. New Zealand radio played 20.51 per cent local music this week - the highest rate recorded by RadioScope outside of NZ Music Month.
