The debut album Love and Lomography by fast-rising young New Zealand troubadour Nick Raven is now via Custom Made Music. Evoking a sun-soaked, psychedelic fantasia, Love and Lomography takes you on an eclectic thrill ride kicked off by the mind bending Butterfly High.
His first full-length album was written, produced and recorded by Raven, and mastered by Steve Corrao in Nashville, Tennessee; the striking artwork was created by Fraser Chatham.
Nick Raven is only 19 and his name may be relatively new but he already has quite a track record, starting with his school band Razor Fox picking up the Schick Style Award at the national finals of the 2010 Smokefree Rockquest. Raven then branched out on his own, touring the North Island, playing bFM’s Freak the Sheep Christmas Special alongside Goodshirt and Julia Deans, releasing a video (Kiss Me) which played on Juice and C4, and winning a recording grant from Zeal West which resulted in the EP Happy You Hippie Me. Recently he’s played 95bFM’s Breakfast Club and recorded a live In Session at Roundhead studios in December.
And here’s the lowdown from Nick himself: "This is not an electronic album made by machines, nor was this album made for commercial gain. I wrote this album because I love writing music. I am releasing this album to attempt to connect to people. This is music for the soul from the depths of mine. Listen if you'd like to be heard."
