Dying Of The Light 'Monolithium' Music Video

02 October 2013 - 0 Comments

Industrial Powered Duo's New Video Depicts A Post-Apocalyptic Vision Of New Zealand.

Monolithium is the title track from a newly released 4 song EP by Auckland based group Dying Of The Light. The official video is a sci-fi inspired concept clip influenced by the band’s love of post-apocalypse movies such as The Road, the Mad Max trilogy, Book Of Eli, Hardware and New Zealand films The Quiet Earth and the awesome, rare, Battletruck.

The video for Monolithium was shot guerilla style over just 2 days. The epic look of the clip comes in large part from the awe-inspiring locations in and around New Zealand’s central plateau. In a brilliant stroke of luck, the band were granted access to film inside the Rangipo subterranean hydro-power station, the first footage from the installation in over 30 years!

The story depicts a band of two travelling through the desolate wasteland of tomorrow. Following faint signals that echo over black sands and amplify through derelict pylons, the journey eventually leads to salvation. In a forgotten bunker deep underground the two souls are transported away from the cursed earth and into an otherworldly realm of immaterial digital forever.

The video was shot and edited by Steve Hogg, Dying Of The Light's onstage lighting and video technician. Visual effects and grading were handled by Rangi Powick, Dying Of The Light's guitarist and production engineer.

Dying Of The Light's Monolithium EP contains 3 original tracks and a blistering dark cover version of Factory from one of New Zealand's vanguard heavy bands, Shihad. The Monolithium EP was mastered by James Plotkin (OLD, KHANATE, SCORN).

Dying Of The Light are:

Chris Rigby > Bass and Vocals
Rangi Powick > Guitars, Production and Programming

Dying Of The Light is:

Monolithic slabs of sound and fury. Gargantuan grind power riffs, rumbling volcano bass, concussion inducing beats and vocals that are the stuff of nightmares. The heavy sound of the modern heart.
