Degrees K & Ejector Tour

18 September 2003 - 0 Comments

A LOW HUM presents the Degrees K and Ejector National Tour.

From Sept 25th-Oct 4th, 2003 two of the most exciting live bands in Australasia tour the length of New Zealand, each taking their blend of sonic-indie rock to the masses.

degrees.K, whom since moving to Australia 7 months ago, have sent shockwaves through the local industry with their intense and maddening live performances. The four piece Christchurch rockers have been receiving praise from all corners of the media for both live shows and recorded material.

Blown away is the only description I can think of. Drawn to the front like a moth to a flame. I have the same feeling as I had seeing The Datsuns, Jet and the Casanovas for the first time. degrees.K are the best new band I’ve seen this year. See this band. I don’t make big calls like this too often." Neil Wedd, Indieiniative.com, AUS. August 2003.

"This particular example is a huge sounding, almost symphonic conglomeration of sonic youth guitar vandalism and heavy rock dynamics...this is too interesting to ignore. Truly alternative rock" Revolver Magazine, AUS. April 2003

degrees.k’s impact on Australia has been likened to The Datsuns and numerous comparisons have been made to degrees.K during their time in Australia, with bands such as: Led Zeppelin, U2, Queens of the Stone Age and Jeff Buckley featuring a number of times in various lists. Last month saw a trip to Melbourne include the demo-recording of new material, almost one year after their debut album ‘Lifelike’ was released to glowing reviews here in New Zealand, and more recently in Australia.

"When degrees.K get into your blood stream not many bands within their genre come close to holding up a challenge to the lads from Christchurch. If these guys don't break the ice in the big ugly world then ill swim to New Zealand and back." Anemic Magazine, AUS July 2003.

Since the release of the sell out debut EP "The Lower You Go" late last year, Ejector have undergone major line-up changes. The new line up featuring Oscar Wuts and Jules Desmond, the rhythm section from indie legends Letterbox lambs are eagerly awaiting the tour to road test their new sound.
"Ejector kicked the night off with a fantastic set, unique legato lyrics and real unity as a group, so much so that I'd put money on their becomming the next big thing"
- Ellen Stewart (The Dominion Post) 26 May 03

Receiving 2 nominations at this years B-net awards, "Best un-released song" for Drift (a B-net number 1) and nomination for "Best New Act" have so far capped off what has been an incredible year for Ejector beginning with recording with UK producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia) in Febuary and playing on the True Colours tour in May.
Both bands have earned solid live followings throughout New Zealand for their stunning live performances and now you can find out why.

The Tour also doubles as the nationwide release party for the repackaging of NZ’s most popular independent music ‘zine A LOW HUM. The tour celebrates the new format of the magazine with a 6 track cd of the finest NZ artists every month. A LOW HUM will be sold at a discounted price at all of these shows.
