The 3 track digital EP Songs For Michelle is being released Friday 24th January 2014.
Auckland three-piece Coach make dreamy, spacious pop music. The band consists of Abraham Kunin (guitar and lead vocals), Jonathan Burgess (bass) and Todd Beeby (drums).
The Coach catalogue has grown its next branch with Songs For Michelle. The EP follows on from their debut album Family Tree - released in 2012.
Family Tree was well known for its dark, varied pop, woven through interludes of heavier rock. Crooning vocal harmonies in washes of falsetto settling over double bass, drums and chiming electric guitar. The three tracks on Songs For Michelle continue in a dense, gothic, 90s inspired direction and expand on the group's heavier - in parts droning - tone.
Songs For Michelle was produced by Coach and Tom Anderson, with Tom handling recording, engineering, and mixing duties once more. Mastering was done by Angus McNaughton.
