Internationally renowned musician Jayson Norris combines his rich, earthy voice with a blend of soul, roots and rock. The Kiwi singer/songwriter left NZ in 2004 and has spent the past decade touring the globe from Sydney to Singapore to the UK and Europe. He now calls London home where he has shared the stage with a range of artists such as Andrea Bocelli, INXS, Blue King Brown and New Zealand’s own Six60, The Black Seeds, Dave Dobbyn and Katchafire. 2013 also saw Jayson as one of the most highly played NZ artists on Home and Away which is played in 76 countries worldwide.
Since his move to the UK, Jayson Norris has released two full-length albums A Basket Full in 2006 and Freedom Twenty Eight in February 2011.
But Jayson’s roots always remain in NZ, and his cultural and musical heritage is subtly reflected with a South-Pacific feel resonating throughout his songs.
No stranger to the New Zealand stage, Jayson joined the cast of the renowned kiwi collective Fly My Pretties, which toured NZ in January 2011. Jayson also played at NZ’s biggest local music festival Homegrown in 2011. After the highly successful sell-out New Zealand acoustic tour with Tiki Taane in April 2013, the prolific pair were compelled to get in the studio and start laying down tracks immediately!
The single Save My Soul was partly recorded whilst on tour last year with Tiki Taane & Cocoa Jackson Lane, the later made up of kiwi girl Jess Harlen who Rolling Stone magazine dubbed as "an artist to watch" and the amazing bass player Camilla Charlesworth, both based out of Boston. During tour downtime the group found themselves in Tiki’s studio laying down the track, including Cocoa Jackson Lane as featured artists. They then road tested the tune throughout the remaining tour… and it proved to be an instant hit!
Save My Soul will be released worldwide digitally on 14/02/2014 and is being released to co-inside with Jayson and Tiki’s performance at Homegrown on the Wellington Waterfront, Saturday 15 February 2014.
