Irish band Kodaline are pleased to announce that Auckland indie-folk outfit Five Mile Town will open their show at one of Auckland’s favourite venues The Powerstation, on Sunday 30th March prior to their national tour of Australia.
Five Mile Town, an alternative rock band formed in Auckland, released their first single in 2012. After their music video Saturated received over 50,000 views on YouTube in a week, momentum built and their debut self-titled EP quickly followed. That same year their song Fatal Flaw was APRA Silver Scroll nominated and You Would Know won the International Songwriting Competition Teen Category, cementing the band as one to watch.
After a notable festival appearance on the main stage of Rhythm And Vines, 2013 saw the band move to Melbourne, continuing to develop their sound by touring Australia. The release of their Sophomore EP Other Ghosts featuring singles Curious Creature and Solo showcasing a band matured beyond their years. Thoughtful arrangements and lyrics show the makings of true songwriters, in the vein of artists like Neil Finn, Wilco or Arcade Fire.
Dublin quarted Kodaline have been playing together since 15. Growing up in a small Irish town of Swords, before joining the local band circuit in Dublin. Their debut 11 track LP In A Perfect World has been received with open arms by the international press and beautiful tracks like All I Want and High Hopes reveal anthemic songwriting, epic melodies and stirring choruses that inspire the crowd sing-alongs their live shows are renowned for.
