MAI FM & Ginnen Group presents

BRIAN MCKNIGHT ANNOUNCES TEVIN CAMPBELL TO JOIN HIS AUCKLAND SHOW

R&B icon BRIAN MCKNIGHT is thrilled to announce that fellow R&B singer and Grammy nominated artist, Texan born TEVIN CAMPBELL will be joining him at his show on Thursday 27 February 2014 at the ASB Theatre in Auckland.

This will be Tevin Campbell's first ever performance in New Zealand, and in joining Brian McKnight fans should prepare for an incredible evening of old-school R&B with two musical icons.

Campbell first hit the music scene at the tender age of 12, when he became one of the youngest ever signings to a major record label by Benny Medina from Warner Bros records in 1988. Legendary producer Quincy Jones took a special interest in Tevin's talent and subsequently he appeared on Jones' album Back On The Block. Tevin's high flexible tenor recalled an
earlier Jones protégé, Michael Jackson and Quincy featured Tevin on Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me) which hit number one on the R&B charts in 1990. Later that year he appeared in Prince's rock musical movie Graffiti Bridge singing Round And Round, a hit single penned for him and produced by Prince.

The following year he appeared on the soundtrack to Boyz In The Hood singing Just Ask Me To, which became a Top Ten R&B hit. Hits such as Tell Me What You Want Me To Do, Alone With You, and Goodbye came from his debut album T.E.V.I.N.  1993's I'm Ready went double-platinum and featured three R&B chart hits Can We Talk, I'm Ready and Always In My Heart.

Over the following years, Campbell continued to work with some of the industry's top writers and producers, including Prince, Babyface, Al B. Sure, Narada Michael Walden, Wyclef and Sean 'Diddy' Combs, has made numerous guest appearances on hit TV shows, and taken to the theatre in the Broadway musical 'Hairspray'. Throughout his career, Campbell has earned five  Grammy Award nominations and has sold over 3 million copies worldwide.

Now more than two decades on, Tevin Campbell returns to his R&B roots and is bringing his hits to New Zealand for the first time.

R&B fans should ensure they do not miss out on this opportunity to see two of the finest singer-songwriters of their time,
performing their favourite hits and new tracks when Brian McKnight brings his full band and iconic urban musical style to New Zealand at the end of this month.
